Puerto Williams is a small town and seaport in the southern part of Chile, on the coast of the Beagle Channel on Navarino Island. Puerto Williams is the capital of the Chilean Antarctic Province and the southernmost city in the world. Puerto Williams has a temperate subpolar oceanic climate with slight temperature variations during the entire year. Summer in January temperature rises maximum to 12 °C, and winter in July it is about — 2 °C. Summer is very short and cool, and winter mild with a lot rainfall. Puerto Williams is the main base for scientific expeditions to Tierra del Fuego and Antarctica.
