Chalkis, or Chalkida, is the administrative center of Euboea island and is located on both coast of the Euripus Strait. On one side of the strait is located Evia island, on the other side is Greece Mainland. Through the Euripus Strait was built two bridges, one the old bridge and a second modern cable-stayed the bridge, which built in 1962. Chalkida attracts huge number of tourists, in the city many sights and in strait is observed unusual natural phenomenon. Water flow in the Euripus Strait changes its direction every at 6 hours. Scientists are still unable to understand this unusual natural phenomenon.
