The Sanctuary of the Madonna of San Luca is a basilica church in Bologna located on top a forested hill to the south-west of the historical centre of Bologna in Italy, at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. This is a Catholic sanctuary is devoted to Virgin Mary, as well as it is a center of pilgrimage and veneration of the icon of Virgin Mary with Child, painted by St. Luke. The sanctuary was build in 1723 in the baroque style on the project by Carlo Francesco Dotti, and grand opening occurred March 25, 1765 by Archbishop Vincenzo Malvezzi. In 1774 were completed works over the dome and the façade by the architect Giovanni Giacomo Dotti.
