Piazza del Popolo is one of the most popular squares of Rome, it get the modern form thanks to the architect Giuseppe Valadier during the time of Napoleon. In the center of the square there is an obelisk a high of 24 meters, it has bas-reliefs in honor of the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses II. The obelisk was brought to the square from ancient Egypt in 10 BC by Emperor Octavian Augustus. Around it was built a fountain decorated by lions made of white marble. On the square are two churches twins, this Santa Maria dei Miracoli, built in 1678, and Santa Maria in Montesanto, built in 1675. These churches are almost identical, but have a lot of differences. Besides, on the square is the famous church of Santa Maria del Popolo, built in the XI century.
