Guadalajara is both a city and the capital of the Mexican state of Jalisco. Covering an area of 150 square kilometers, it serves as the home to approximately 1.4 million residents. In conjunction with its neighboring cities, Guadalajara forms the Guadalajara metropolitan area, the second most populous metropolitan area in Mexico, boasting a population exceeding 5 million.

Situated within the Atemajac Valley in the heart of the state of Jalisco, Guadalajara is located 300 kilometers to the east of the popular resort city of Puerto Vallarta.
