It is the capital of the province of Cadiz within the autonomous community of Andalusia. The city is located in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula in southern Spain, 120 km south of Seville, 220 km west of the city of Málaga and 120 km northwest of Gibraltar. Cadiz has a population of about 130,561 and an area of 12.1 km².
