Valencia is an autonomous community in eastern Spain, located on the Iberian Peninsula on the east coast of the country. Valencia borders Catalonia to the north, Castile-La Mancha to the west, Murcia to the south and the Mediterranean Sea to the east.

The capital of the autonomous community of Valencia is the eponymous city of Valencia, which is the third largest city in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona and the most important seaport of the country.

The largest cities of the Valencian Community: the regional capital Valencia with a population of about 798,538 residents, Alicante (338,577), Elche (235,580), and Castellon de la Plana (180,005).

Climate in Valencian Community

The Valencian Community has Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, and mild, wet winters. The proximity of the Mediterranean Sea has a huge influence on the climate.

Summer temperatures range from +25°C to +35°C, with heat waves of up to +40°C and higher not uncommon. In the interior of Valencia, summers are much hotter than on the coast.

Winter temperatures are usually between +8°C and +18°C. Away from the coast, winters are cool, while in coastal areas they are mild, as the Mediterranean Sea moderates temperature fluctuations.

Much of the rainfall occurs during the fall and winter months, especially from November to February. The best time to visit the cities and resorts of the Valencian Community is between June and September.
