About Dmitrov
Dmitrov is a small yet historic town in the Moscow Region and the administrative center of Dmitrovsky District. In October 2008, it was officially granted the honorary title of City of Military Glory. Today, Dmitrov is home to about 68,000 residents and covers an area of 26 kmยฒ.
The town lies on the flatlands near the Moscow Canal, which connects the Moskva River with the Volga, about 65 km north of central Moscow and 50 km north of the MKAD ring road. Dmitrov is also located at the intersection of three major highways: A104, A108, and R112.
Founded in 1154 by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky, Dmitrov has grown into a cozy and green town with parks, ponds, old churches, and its own Kremlin.
