Elba Island is the largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago, situated between the Ligurian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea, and is part of the Tuscany region. It is located in the Livorno province of Tuscany, 10 kilometers (6 miles) west of the town of Piombino on the western coast of mainland Italy. Elba is a popular and elite Italian resort, known for its wines, beautiful towns, picturesque bays, and beaches.
Elba Island has a population of about 31,000 people and covers an area of 223 square kilometers (86 square miles). It is the third-largest island in Italy after Sicily and Sardinia.
Portoferraio, with a population of about 12,000 people, is the main town and seaport of Elba Island, as well as the entire Tuscan Archipelago. It is located on a peninsula on the northern coast of the island.
The climate here is Mediterranean, characterized by mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers. Elba enjoys many sunny days, especially during the summer months. The rainy season on Elba falls mainly in the winter months, with November typically being the wettest month of the year. Summers are dry and warm, while winters are cool and wet. Frosts and snowfalls are extremely rare.
