Montefalco is a small medieval village (commune) in the Province of Perugia in the Umbria region of central Italy. The commune is situated on top of a hill between the communes of Assisi and Spoleto, 37 km (23 miles) southeast of Perugia. The name of the commune translates from Italian as “Falcon Mountain”. The population of the commune is 5,600, and its area is about 69 km² (27 square miles).
