Calpe is a small town and tourist resort on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante in the southern part of the Valencian Community in eastern Spain. It is located on the Mediterranean coast in the central part of the eastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula, 130 kilometers (81 miles) south of Valencia and 70 kilometers (43 miles) north of Alicante. The town has a population of about 30,000 and an area of 23.5 km².
