About Volgograd Region
Volgograd Region is a federal subject of Russia, part of the Southern Federal District and the Volga economic region. It shares borders with Kazakhstan to the east, Saratov Region to the north, Voronezh Region to the northwest, Rostov Region to the west and southwest, Astrakhan Region to the south and southeast, and the Republic of Kalmykia to the south.
The region has a population of about 2.5 million people and covers an area of 112,877 kmΒ². Its administrative center is Volgograd, a Hero City located on the right bank of the Volga River, stretching almost 100 kilometers along the river.

Climate
Volgograd Region experiences a continental, dry climate with clearly defined four seasons.
Winter is generally cold and dry, with relatively little snowfall. Temperatures can drop sharply, and January is the coldest month, averaging around β7 Β°C (19 Β°F), though extreme lows can sometimes reach β30 Β°C (β22 Β°F) in certain areas.
Summer is long, hot, and dry, with July being the hottest month. Average temperatures during this period are about +28 Β°C (82 Β°F), while heat waves can push temperatures above +35 Β°C (95 Β°F).
Spring and autumn are transitional seasons, with moderate temperatures and occasional rainfall. Spring gradually warms the region after the cold winter months, while autumn brings a cooling trend with clear skies and crisp air.
Overall, annual precipitation is low, ranging from 270 mm in the southeast to 500 mm in the northwest of the region, making the Volgograd Region generally dry throughout the year. The combination of warm summers, cold winters, and low rainfall gives the area a distinctly continental climate, typical of the southeastern part of the East European Plain.
