In 1947, the secret Institute of Nuclear Problems was established, followed by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in 1956, a global center for physics research. Dubna earned science city status in 2001. Today, it’s also a thriving industrial and IT hub, with companies like GosMKB Raduga producing aviation systems and Tensor manufacturing equipment for nuclear energy. The Dubna Technopark, Russia’s largest special economic zone by resident companies, drives innovation.
