Dubna is a science city (naukograd) in the northeast of the Moscow Oblast, located on the right bank of the Volga River. It is Russia’s largest research center in the field of nuclear physics. The city is surrounded by the Volga, Dubna, and Sestra rivers, as well as the Moscow Canal and the Ivankovo Reservoir. Dubna is the only city in the Moscow Region with direct access to the Volga. It borders Kimry District to the east and north, Konakovo District of Tver Region to the west, and Taldom District to the south. The city has a population of about 75,000 and covers an area of roughly 6,300 hectares.

Dubna is well known for the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, its science museums, architecture, art installations (including the “Dubnium” sculpture), the Great Mendeleev Table, its lighthouse, and its scenic riverfront promenade. The climate is moderately continental, with fairly cold winters and warm, humid summers. The Volga and the reservoir help increase humidity and make the climate milder. Dubna is connected to Moscow by rail and highways, and the Ivankovo Hydroelectric Station includes a road bridge linking the two banks of the Volga.

Through this webcam, you can see the Volga River and the Dubna Pier, located on Komsomolskaya Embankment across from 12 Stroiteley Street. The pier serves as a stop for riverboat routes along the Volga and within the Ivankovo Reservoir. It offers scenic cruises past the lock, dam, and picturesque riverbanks. For example, you can take a two-hour boat trip from Dubna Pier to Bolshaya Volga Pier (and back), or enjoy a ride on the “Moskva-173” riverboat around Dubna and the lock.
