The Kutum River is a waterway in Astrakhan Oblast, southern Russia. It is one of the branches of the Volga River and forms the northern and eastern boundary of the island where the Astrakhan Kremlin is located. The river is about 26 kilometers long. It originates from the left bank of the Volga in central Astrakhan, flows through the entire city, and empties into the Bolda River in Astrakhan Oblast.
On the right bank of the Kutum, near its source, lies Astrakhan’s Central Embankment, followed by the Krasnaya Embankment stretching along both sides of the river. Key attractions of Krasnaya Embankment include the Lovers’ Bridge, Victory Square, and historic merchant mansions that are recognized as architectural landmarks.
Krasnaya Embankment is one of Astrakhan’s most popular destinations for walking and leisure. It features numerous restaurants, cafes, shops, hotels, and guesthouses.
