Cruiser Aurora Live Webcam, Saint Petersburg
The live webcam offers real-time views of the Cruiser Aurora in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The Aurora, a first-rank cruiser of the Baltic Fleet’s Diana class, has been a museum ship since 1956 and is one of the oldest surviving steam-powered warships in the world. Launched on May 24, 1900, it participated in the Second Pacific Squadron’s campaign during the Russo-Japanese War and saw action in naval battles during World War I.
The Cruiser Aurora is a symbol of the October Revolution, as its blank shot served as the signal to storm the Winter Palace. Decommissioned on November 17, 1948, it was permanently moored along the Petrogradskaya Embankment at the mouth of the Bolshaya Nevka River. In 2014, the cruiser was towed to the Kronstadt Naval Shipyard’s repair dock for maintenance by Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
On July 16, 2016, the Aurora returned to its permanent mooring, where a renewed exhibition dedicated to the history of the Russian Navy was opened. From the ship’s deck, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Neva River and Saint Petersburg’s historic center. The Cruiser Aurora is a key landmark of Saint Petersburg and a designated cultural heritage site of Russia.
