St. Vladimir’s Cathedral is an active Orthodox church in Astrakhan, belonging to the Astrakhan Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is considered one of the city’s symbols and a major landmark. The cathedral is located on General Yepishev Street in the Sovetsky District, on the right bank of the Privolzhsky backwater, near its embankment. Its official address is 4 General Yepishev Street. The cathedral of St. Prince Vladimir is notable for its distinctive architecture from the late 19th century.

The cathedral was built between 1895 and 1902 with funds donated by parishioners, as a monument commemorating the 900th anniversary of the Christianization of Rus’. After the October Revolution and during the early Soviet period, the cathedral faced difficult times: in the 1920s–1930s it was closed, partially destroyed, and used for secular purposes. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, restoration and renovation began, and the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. Today, it hosts regular services, Orthodox holidays, parish activities, and educational events.

Architecturally, the cathedral is designed in an eclectic style with elements of Russian church architecture typical of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its interior traditionally included iconostases, wall paintings, and liturgical furnishings. Before the revolution, the cathedral was richly decorated with murals and icons; during restoration, efforts were made to revive its iconography and sacred items. The webcam is installed at 14 Naberezhnaya Privolzhskogo Zatona Street, facing south. It provides views of St. Vladimir’s Cathedral, the Privolzhsky backwater, and General Yepishev Street with its bridge.
