Hydroelectric Dam Live Cam, Irkutsk
The live webcam shows the dam of the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station and the Baikal Circle traffic interchange in Irkutsk, Russia.
The Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station is located on the Angara River in the Sverdlovsky District of Irkutsk, about 65 km (40 mi) from Lake Baikal, where the river begins. It holds the distinction of being the first major hydroelectric power plant built in Siberia. Construction began in 1950, and the plant was fully commissioned in 1958.
The station has an installed capacity of 662.4 MW and produces about 4.1 billion kWh of electricity annually. The Irkutsk HPP includes two earth-fill dams: the left-bank dam, 328 meters (1,076 ft) long and 38.5 meters (126 ft) high, and the right-bank dam, 703 meters (2,306 ft) long and up to 19 meters (62 ft) high.
