The B-413 is a unique exhibit of the Museum of the World Ocean and a recognized cultural heritage site of Russia. It is a Soviet diesel-electric submarine of Project 641, launched on October 7, 1968. From 1969 to 1990, the submarine served with the 96th Submarine Brigade of the 4th Squadron of the Northern Fleet. In 1990, it was transferred to the Baltic Fleet. During its service, the B-413 undertook multiple long-range missions in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It also participated in a historic year-long deployment of the 96th Submarine Brigade.

In 2000, the submarine was permanently moored at the Peter the Great Embankment in central Kaliningrad, becoming one of the Museum of the World Ocean’s most remarkable exhibits. The B-413 is the only preserved submarine of its kind in Russia and one of the very few left in the world built before the nuclear era. What makes it especially valuable is that it has been preserved in its original condition. The submarine is 91.3 meters (300 ft) long and 7.5 meters (25 ft) wide. It could dive to depths of up to 280 meters (920 ft) and reach speeds of 16 knots. The crew consisted of 80 sailors, and the submarine was capable of operating autonomously for up to 90 days.

The Museum of the World Ocean is the first museum in Russia dedicated to the study of the world’s oceans. Its exhibits cover geology, hydrology, marine flora and fauna, navigation, and ocean expeditions. The museum is located at 1 Peter the Great Embankment, Kaliningrad. Alongside the B-413 submarine, its most famous exhibits include the research vessel Vityaz and the space communication ship Cosmonaut Viktor Patsayev.
