The Grand Cascade Fountain Live Webcam, Peterhof
This live webcam offers real-time views of the Grand Cascade in Peterhof, Saint Petersburg.
The Grand Cascade is the main fountain ensemble of the Peterhof Palace and Park complex, one of the largest fountain structures in the world, and a major landmark of Saint Petersburg. It is situated in front of the facade of the Grand Peterhof Palace and features three cascading stairways, two grottoes, and 64 fountains adorned with 225 bronze sculptures.
The fountain was constructed between 1714 and 1724 by order of Peter I to celebrate the power of the Russian state and the Russian army’s victory in the Great Northern War. The Grand Cascade is connected to the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea by a 12-meter-wide marine channel. On the fountain’s opening and closing days, in late May and mid-September, the Grand Cascade becomes a spectacular entertainment venue with laser shows and theatrical performances.
Today, the Grand Cascade fountains are recognized as one of the world’s most outstanding structures and a symbol of Russia’s northern capital. The Peterhof Palace and Park ensemble is located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, about 30 km west of central Saint Petersburg. Visitors can reach Peterhof by hydrofoil, suburban train, minibus or bus, by car via the Saint Petersburg Ring Road (KAD), or as part of an organized tour.
