Lenin Square is the main square of Astrakhan, located in the very center of the city, near the southern walls of the Astrakhan Kremlin, and bordered by Admiralteyskaya Street, Vasily Trediakovsky Street, and Ploshchad Lenina Street. At the center of the square stands a monument to V. I. Lenin — a nine-meter bronze statue on a high pedestal made of gray-pink Karelian granite. The square hosts major city events, including parades, Victory Day celebrations, public fairs, concerts, and festivals.

The square was established in the 18th century and was originally called Sobornaya Square, serving as the center of Astrakhan’s spiritual and administrative life. After the October Revolution, it was renamed in honor of V. I. Lenin. In 2008, for Astrakhan’s 450th anniversary, the square was renovated according to a design by architects from Saint Petersburg. Modern light granite paving was installed, along with small architectural elements.

Notable landmarks around the square include the “Neva-Volga” fountain complex, the Lenin monument, the Astrakhan Regional Government building, and the Astrakhan Drama Theater, one of the oldest theaters in Russia. The webcam offers a view of the intersection of Ploshchad Lenina, Trediakovsky Street, and Lenin Street, one of Astrakhan’s main streets in the historic Bely Gorod district.
