Taganskaya Square is one of the largest city squares in Moscow, located on the Garden Ring in the heart of the Tagansky District in the Central Administrative Okrug of Russia’s capital. The square takes its name from the surrounding Tagansky District. It was formed in 1963 through the merger of two former squares: Upper Taganskaya Square and Lower Taganskaya Square. In the 19th century, this area was home to Tagansky Market.

Today, Taganskaya Square sits at the intersection of several major streets, including Zemlyanoy Val, Goncharnaya Street, Goncharny Proyezd, Taganskaya Street, Marksistskaya Street, Vorontsovskaya Street, Bolshiye Kamenshchiki Street, Narodnaya Street, and others. It is also served by two metro stations — Marksistskaya and Taganskaya.

The square is surrounded by several notable landmarks, such as the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gonchary, the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Bolvanovka, the Taganka Theatre (76 Zemlyanoy Val Street), the Vladimir Vysotsky Museum (3 Nizhny Tagansky Tupik), and the early 20th-century Kolesnikov–Sarginy–Shapatina Estate, an architectural monument.

Through this live stream, viewers can see Taganskaya Square and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the foreground. In the background, the Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building — one of Moscow’s famous Stalinist skyscrapers — is also visible.
