This live webcam provides real-time views of the foundation of the Alexander Nevsky Chapel in Kolomna.
The foundation of the Alexander Nevsky Chapel is a new landmark in Kolomna. It is presented as an “archaeological window,” where visitors can see the preserved base of a historic chapel. The site is located on the Square of Two Revolutions in Kolomna’s Old Town, not far from the Kolomna Kremlin. On November 4, 2017, local historians and archaeologists confirmed that the uncovered structure was indeed the foundation of the Alexander Nevsky Chapel, which was demolished in 1924 after the October Revolution. Today, the foundation is protected under glass and has become one of Kolomna’s unique attractions.
The Square of Two Revolutions is the main central square of Kolomna, situated on Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsii Street in the heart of the city. Here you can also find the Church of St. John the Theologian, built between 1733 and 1756 in the Classical style, with extensive use of white stone in its construction.
