The Sovremennik Cultural Center is a major cultural hub in the city of Angarsk, Irkutsk Region. It was opened on October 22, 1967, the day after the 10th anniversary celebration of the Angarsk Electrolysis Chemical Plant (AEKhK). The building was designed by architects from Leningrad, and construction took 10 years under the leadership of AEKhK’s first director, Viktor Fyodorovich Novokshenov. The cultural center is located within a park area on Engels Street in the western part of the city.
