Lenin Square is the central city square in Bratsk, located in front of the City Administration building. It serves as the main venue for public gatherings and holiday celebrations and is an important architectural and cultural landmark of the city. The square is situated in Bratsk’s Central District, at the intersection of Lenin Avenue and Sovetskaya Street. From here, pedestrian routes lead to “Bratsk Arbat” and Sovetskaya Street, which connects to the Angarskie Kaskady Square.
The square was formed along with the construction of the administrative center in the late 1980s. In 1987, a monument to Vladimir I. Lenin was installed here, created by Moscow sculptor Gennady Potapov in collaboration with local artists Viktor Zimin and Viktoria Astrakhantseva. The bronze statue of Lenin was cast in Tashkent and installed on November 4, 1987 — one day before the 70th anniversary of the October Revolution. With the addition of the monument and a fountain, the square became the dominant feature of Bratsk’s city center. Today, it is harmoniously connected with the City Administration building, “Bratsk Arbat” (a pedestrian street), and Angarskie Kaskady Square.
