Professionalnaya Street is one of Dmitrov’s key thoroughfares, connecting the historic city center with industrial and residential districts in the north. Stretching approximately 8 km, it begins at the Dmitrov Kremlin and passes through neighborhoods like Markova, Averyanova, Nov, Makhalina, DZFS, and the 5th Microdistrict. Running parallel to the Moscow Canal and the Yakhroma River floodplain, the street was originally named Berezovskaya, leading to Berezovskaya Sloboda. Later, it was called Kashinskaya, after the road to Kashin (noted on a 1784 map), and Sretenskaya, after the Sretensky Church located on it.
The Sretensky Church, also known as the Church of the Presentation of the Lord, is an early 19th-century Orthodox church at 19 Professionalnaya Street. Built in 1814 by merchants Ivan Bolshakov and Peter Korovaev to commemorate victory in the Patriotic War of 1812, it features early neoclassical architecture. In 1883, architect S.K. Rodionov added a two-tiered bell tower in the pseudo-Russian style. Closed during Soviet times and used as a warehouse, which led to the loss of its interior decor, the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1991–1992. It houses revered icons, including those of St. Ferapont of Mozhaisk, St. Alexander Svirsky, and a copy of the “Gifts of the Magi.
