Nestled on the Baltic coast, approximately 34 km north of Kaliningrad, Zelenogradsk serves as the administrative center of the Zelenogradsky District. With a population of about 13,000 and an area of roughly 17 square kilometers, the town is renowned for its pristine sandy beaches, mild climate, fascinating museums, and rich architectural and historical landmarks.

Zelenogradsk lies along the Amber Coast, boasting a 2-km stretch of picturesque beaches with fine golden sand. Natural dunes create sheltered spots perfect for sunbathing, even on cooler days. The beaches are well-equipped with amenities, including rentals for lounge chairs and umbrellas, showers, and changing cabins. A scenic promenade lined with cafés, restaurants, and shops runs parallel to the shoreline.

Key attractions in Zelenogradsk include the 2-km-long promenade, the 50-meter-tall “Eye of the Baltic” Ferris wheel offering panoramic views, the Zelenogradsk Local History Museum, the “FiloSovia” owl and eagle museum, the Museum of Skulls and Skeletons, and a monument to Adam Mickiewicz, erected in 2015 to commemorate his 1824 visit to the town. One of the city’s architectural gems is the 1904 Water Tower, now home to the “Murarium,” the largest collection of cat-themed artifacts in the region.
