Dubovka is a town and the administrative center of Dubovsky District in the Volgograd Region of Russia. It is located on the right (eastern) bank of the Volgograd Reservoir, on the eastern slopes of the Volga Upland, about 52 km northeast of central Volgograd. The town has a population of approximately 14,000 people and covers an area of about 20 km². Dubovka is connected by road to Volgograd and neighboring settlements, and river transport on the Volga plays an important role, especially during the warmer months.
The town was founded in 1734, following a special decree by the Russian Empire government to resettle 1,057 families of Russians, Little Russians (Ukrainians), and Don Cossacks. The local economy is based on supporting the agricultural and river transport sectors. There are food processing and manufacturing enterprises, as well as a developed retail sector. The main attractions of Dubovka include the Holy Ascension Dubovka Monastery, built in 1871, and the Vodyanskoye Settlement (ruins of a 14th-century Golden Horde city), located on the right bank of the Volga River.
