Nevsky Prospekt is the main street of Saint Petersburg and one of the city’s top tourist destinations. Located in the Central District, it stretches from Alexander Nevsky Square and the Alexander Nevsky Lavra to the Admiralty. The avenue is 4.5 km long, with a width varying from 25 meters near the Moika River to 60 meters by Gostiny Dvor.

Nevsky Prospekt crosses the Moika River (Green Bridge), the Fontanka River (Anichkov Bridge), and the Griboedov Canal (Kazan Bridge). Along the avenue, visitors can find numerous museums, theaters, historic landmarks, and architectural monuments, many of which are included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Some of the most famous attractions on Nevsky Prospekt include the Admiralty, Kazan Cathedral, Gostiny Dvor, Anichkov Palace, Anichkov Bridge, Stroganov Palace, Eliseevsky Store, and Alexandrinsky Theatre.

Nevsky Prospekt is also a central venue for major public celebrations. During events, the section between the Fontanka and Palace Square becomes a pedestrian zone. Key celebrations include New Year’s Eve, Victory Day on May 9, City Day on May 27, and on September 12, the traditional religious procession in honor of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky runs along the avenue from Kazan Cathedral to Alexander Nevsky Square.
