About Belokurikha

Belokurikha is a federal-level resort town in Altai Krai, Russia, and one of the largest balneological resorts in Siberia. Nestled in the valley of the Belokurikha River on the northern slopes of the Altai Mountains, it lies 65 km south of Biysk and 220 km southeast of Barnaul, at the foot of Mount Tserkovka, at an elevation of 240–250 meters above sea level.

Renowned for its thermal radon springs, Belokurikha attracts visitors seeking health treatments, wellness, and relaxation. The town has a developed resort infrastructure, including over 30 sanatoriums, hotels, and guesthouses, accommodating more than 6,000 visitors simultaneously.

Belokurikha was founded in 1846 as the small village of Novaya Belokurikha. In the 1920s, it began developing as a resort, with the first hydrotherapy center opening in 1928. The village became the resort settlement of Belokurikha in 1957 and gained city status in 1982. On October 31, 1999, it received the title of federal-level resort town. Today, Belokurikha has a population of approximately 14,600 and covers 92 kmΒ².
