About El Nido
El Nido is a first-class municipality at the northern tip of Palawan Island, Philippines — repeatedly named one of the most beautiful places on the planet by CNN, Condé Nast Traveler, and Travel + Leisure. Covering 923 km² and 45 islands, it is the gateway to the breathtaking Bacuit Archipelago, a protected marine sanctuary famous for towering marble cliffs, hidden lagoons, and some of the clearest waters anywhere.
Once a sleepy fishing village, El Nido became a global icon in the early 2000s after magazines and films showcased its surreal beauty. Today it welcomes over 400,000 visitors yearly while staying committed to sustainability — strict environmental rules, daily conservation fees, and regular reef clean-ups keep it pristine. With just over 50,000 residents across 18 barangays, the town keeps its laid-back island charm: locals are incredibly warm, English is everywhere, and fresh seafood is served on every corner.
Climate in El Nido
El Nido has a tropical monsoon climate with two seasons:
- Dry season (December – May) – perfect weather: 24–33 °C (75–91 °F), calm seas, almost no rain. March–April are the sunniest months.
- Wet season (June – November) – warm and lush, short afternoon showers, fewer crowds. August–October see the most rain, but tours still run most days.
Sheltered by Palawan’s mountains, El Nido is largely typhoon-free and enjoys more than 250 sunny days a year.
