About Yakhroma

Yakhroma, a small town of 13,618 residents across 17 km², is part of the Dmitrovsky Urban District and proudly holds the title “Settlement of Military Valor”. Situated on the western slope of the Klinsko-Dmitrovskaya Ridge, 55 km north of Moscow, it lies along the Yakhroma River and Moscow Canal, near the A104 highway and the Savyolovskaya railway’s Yakhroma station.

Tracing its roots to the 18th-century village of Surovtsovo, Yakhroma grew around a textile factory founded in 1841 by I.A. Lyamin, whose contributions shaped the town. It gained city status in 1940 but faced occupation during World War II before liberation.

Today, Yakhroma’s economy thrives on industries like bread production, paper manufacturing, and construction materials, while its tourism star is the Yakhroma Park ski resort, offering slopes, an ice rink, cottages, and family-friendly amenities.
