About Altai Krai

Altai Krai is part of the Siberian Federal District and belongs to the West Siberian economic region. Located in southeastern Western Siberia, it borders Novosibirsk Oblast to the north, Kemerovo Oblast to the east, the Altai Republic to the southeast, and Kazakhstan to the southwest and west, with a border length of 843.6 km.

The administrative center is Barnaul, founded on September 28, 1937, which is the 5th largest city in Siberia and the 20th largest in Russia by population. Other major cities include Biysk (183,852), Rubtsovsk (126,834), Novoaltaysk (73,049), Zarinsk (41,272), and Kamen-na-Obi (32,385).
