Palace Bridge Live Webcam, Saint Petersburg
The live webcam offers real-time views of the Palace Bridge (Dvortsovyy Most) in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Palace Bridge is a bascule bridge across the Neva River and one of the most famous landmarks of Russia’s second-largest city. The bridge connects Admiralty Island (Dvortsovy Passage, Admiralteyskaya and Dvortsovaya Embankments) with Vasilyevsky Island (Birzhevaya Square and Universitetskaya Embankment) in the historic center of Saint Petersburg.
Constructed of steel, Palace Bridge has five spans and six traffic lanes. It measures about 250 meters (820 feet) long and 27.7 meters (91 feet) wide. The bridge was named in 1851 after the nearby Winter Palace and Palace Embankment. Downstream lies the Blagoveshchensky Bridge, while upstream stands the Trinity Bridge. The central double-leaf span of Palace Bridge opens during the navigation season to allow the passage of riverboats, passenger liners, barges, and other vessels.
During the summer navigation period (from late April to October), the bridge is raised nightly — usually from 1:10 a.m. to 2:50 a.m., and again from 3:10 a.m. to 4:55 a.m.. Palace Bridge is one of the enduring symbols of Saint Petersburg. The image of the raised bridge against the backdrop of the Peter and Paul Fortress during the White Nights is among the city’s most iconic views.
