Lenin Square is the central and most significant public square in Koryazhma. It serves as the main gathering place for the city’s cultural and social events, including city celebrations, rallies, and concerts. While Koryazhma officially became a city in 1985, its history dates back to 1535. The square was established during the Soviet era and named after Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, as were many central squares across the former Soviet Union. A monument to Lenin, the first in the city, stands prominently in the square.
The square is home to the House of Culture, now known as the Koryazhma Cultural and Leisure Center, which serves as the city’s main cultural institution. The center opened on November 6, 1964, with its first major concert and has since hosted concerts, theatrical performances, and various cultural events. Today, Lenin Square remains the heart of Koryazhma’s public life and is a popular spot for walking, socializing, and community gatherings. Its central location makes it easily accessible from all parts of the city.
