Singapore, officially the Republic of Singapore, is an island city-state located on 63 islands in Southeast Asia. Singapore borders Malaysia to the north, west and east, and is washed by the waters of the Singapore Strait in the south. Its area is 728.3 km², it is home to about 5.7 million people. Singapore has an equatorial climate, or a tropical rainforest climate, with a large amount of rainfall and minimal temperature fluctuations throughout the year, because the city is located near the equator. The highest temperature in Singapore reaches + 36 °C, while the minimum is + 20 °C. Singapore’s economy is one of the fastest growing in all of Southeast Asia and has one of the highest GDP per capita in the world. The city has a lot of enterprises, pharmaceutical, electronics, shipbuilding, oil refining, mechanical engineering, information technology and financial sectors. Singapore is currently one of the leading high-tech and financial centers in Southeast Asia and one of the largest exporters of petroleum products in the world.
