Masjid al-Haram & Kaaba Live Webcam, Mecca
This live webcam shows the Kaaba at Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The Kaaba is the most sacred site in Islam, located in the central courtyard of Masjid al-Haram in the holy city of Mecca. It serves as the spiritual center of the Islamic world and is the focal point of the Hajj pilgrimage, which every Muslim who is able is obligated to perform. The word “Kaaba” in Arabic translates to “cube-shaped house.” The structure is nearly a perfect cube, measuring approximately 13.1 meters (43 feet) in height, 11 meters (36 feet) in length, and 12.8 meters (42 feet) in width. Its walls are built from Meccan granite blocks set upon a marble foundation.
The exterior of the Kaaba is draped in the Kiswah, a black silk covering embroidered with gold Quranic verses. The Kiswah is replaced annually during the 9th–10th days of Dhu al-Hijjah, coinciding with the Hajj. During the pilgrimage, the courtyard of Masjid al-Haram fills with worshippers, and on peak days, the number of pilgrims can exceed one million at the same time.
A key element of the Kaaba is the Black Stone (al-Hajar al-Aswad), embedded in its eastern corner. Pilgrims strive to touch or kiss this sacred stone during the ritual of Tawaf, which involves circumambulating the Kaaba in a counterclockwise direction. This live webcam allows viewers to experience the Kaaba and the spiritual atmosphere of Masjid al-Haram in real time, providing a unique window into one of the most important religious sites in the world.
