Taoyuan City is located in the northwestern part of the island of Taiwan, 30 kilometers southwest of Taipei, the capital of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The city’s name translates to “peach orchard” from the Taiwanese language, and today it is home to just over 2 million residents.

The Daxi Pedestrian Bridge was built in 1934 over the Dahan River in the Taoyuan neighborhood of the same name, and is for pedestrians and bicyclists only. It was originally built of bamboo and wood and was 280 meters long.

Today, it is a reinforced concrete baroque suspension bridge with 13 piers and a total length of 330 meters. At the entrance to the bridge there is an arch with baroque frescoes and benches nearby.
