Taoyuan City is located in the northwestern part of Taiwan, approximately 30 kilometers southwest of Taipei, the capital of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The city’s name translates to “peach orchard” in the Taiwanese language, and it is home to just over 2 million residents today. Taoyuan is a major industrial and cultural center, with a rich history and several scenic spots.

The Daxi Pedestrian Bridge was originally built in 1934 over the Dahan River in the Daxi District and was intended for pedestrians and cyclists only. The first bridge was made of bamboo and wood and measured 280 meters in length.

Today, the bridge is a reinforced concrete baroque-style suspension bridge with 13 piers, spanning a total length of 330 meters. At the entrance to the bridge, there is an ornate arch decorated with baroque frescoes, and benches are available for visitors to relax and enjoy the scenic river views. The bridge remains one of Taoyuan’s most popular landmarks and a picturesque spot for walking, photography, and local tourism.
