Lovers’ Bridge (Chinese: 情人橋) is a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge and one of the most famous landmarks in New Taipei (Xinbei), Taiwan. Located at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf in the Tamsui District, the bridge was opened on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2003, and named in honor of the holiday. Its curved white design resembles a sail, and at 196 meters long it offers beautiful views of the Taiwan Strait and the Tamsui River (Chinese: 淡水河).

The bridge connects to the wooden promenade of Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf, which features cafés, restaurants, benches, and observation platforms. It is one of the main attractions in Tamsui, popular for evening strolls and famous as a spot to watch spectacular sunsets.

With a population of more than 4.3 million, New Taipei is the most populous administrative division in Taiwan. It is located in the northwest of the island and completely surrounds Taipei, the nation’s capital. Together, Taipei and New Taipei form the largest metropolitan area in Taiwan.

Taiwan, officially the Republic of China, is a partially recognized democratic state in East Asia. The People’s Republic of China considers Taiwan an administrative region of its own territory. The island of Taiwan covers an area of 36,178 km² and lies in the Pacific Ocean about 150 km off the east coast of mainland China, separated by the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan has one of the fastest-growing economies in East Asia and ranks 19th in the world by GDP.
