Lovers’ Bridge (Chinese: 情人橋) is a cable-stayed pedestrian bridge and one of the beautiful landmarks in New Taipei (Xinbei), Taiwan. It is located at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf in the Tamsui District of New Taipei City. The bridge was opened on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2003, and was named Lover’s Bridge. It is a curved one-way white cable-stayed bridge, and its shape resembles a white sail. It is about 196 meters long and offers a beautiful view of the Taiwan Strait and the Tamsui River (Chinese: 淡水河).

The Lovers’ Bridge leads to the wooden promenade of Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf, which has cafes and restaurants, benches and viewing platforms. The Lovers Bridge is one of the main attractions in the Tamsui area of New Taipei and is a great place to stroll and relax. It is also a great place to watch beautiful sunsets.

With more than 4.3 million people, New Taipei is the most populous and densely populated territorial administrative unit in Taiwan. Xinbei is located in the northwest of the island of Taiwan and surrounds Taipei City, the capital of Taiwan, on all sides. Together with Taipei, Xinbei forms Taiwan’s largest metropolitan area.

Taiwan, or the Republic of China, is currently a partially recognized democratic state in East Asia. China considers Taiwan to be an administrative unit of the same name within the People’s Republic of China. The Republic of China occupies the 36,178 km² island of Taiwan, located in the Pacific Ocean 150 km off the east coast of mainland China. The island of Taiwan is separated from mainland China by the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan is one of the fastest growing economies in East Asia, ranking 19th in the world in terms of GDP.
