Live broadcast from the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Mecca (Arabic: مكة المكرمة, English: Mecca) is the holiest city in Islam and the primary center for the Muslim pilgrimage, Hajj. The city is located in western Saudi Arabia, in the historic Hejaz region, approximately 100 km from the Red Sea coast and 70 km from Jeddah. Mecca is considered the most sacred city in Islam, as it is traditionally believed to be the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad. By Saudi law, entry to Mecca is strictly limited to Muslims; non-Muslims are not permitted to enter the city.
At the heart of Mecca is Masjid al-Haram (The Grand Mosque) — the largest mosque in the world and the most important religious site in Islam. In its central courtyard stands the Kaaba, a cube-shaped structure toward which Muslims direct their prayers (qibla) and where the rituals of Hajj and Umrah are performed. Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world undertake Hajj, the obligatory pilgrimage and one of the five pillars of Islam.
Modern Mecca blends ancient religious traditions with contemporary architectural developments. One of the most prominent landmarks is the Abraj Al-Bait Towers, completed in 2011. This complex consists of seven towers, with the central Makkah Royal Clock Tower rising 601 meters, making it the third tallest building in the world after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Shanghai Tower. Abraj Al-Bait is also the heaviest building in the world by mass and features the largest clock faces at high elevation. The towers house hotels, shopping centers, prayer halls, and the Museum of Islamic Civilization.
Mecca experiences a hot desert climate. Summers are extremely hot, with temperatures often exceeding 113°F (45°C), and rainfall is extremely rare. Despite the harsh climate, the city has modern infrastructure, including King Abdulaziz International Airport, the high-speed Haramain Railway, and numerous hotels and transport routes to accommodate pilgrims efficiently.
This live webcam in Mecca provides real-time views of the Grand Mosque, the Kaaba, and the surrounding holy sites, allowing viewers to experience the city’s spiritual and cultural significance from anywhere in the world.
