Patong Beach is the most famous and lively beach resort on Phuket, located in southern Thailand. Known for its long stretch of soft sand, vibrant nightlife, and extensive tourist infrastructure, it is one of the most visited destinations in the country. During the day, Patong attracts sunbathers, swimmers, and fans of water activities. Here you can try parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides, paddleboarding, and beach volleyball.

Patong is situated on Phuket’s west coast, between Karon Beach to the south and Kamala Beach to the north. It lies about 15 km southwest of Phuket Town and roughly 40 km from Phuket International Airport. The beach spans nearly 3 kilometers along a scenic bay of the Andaman Sea, framed by green hills that give the area its bright and dynamic resort atmosphere.

The sand is soft and light, and the sea is generally calm during the dry season, from November to April. Despite its popularity, the northern end of the bay offers quieter, more relaxed spots. The central area, however, remains the busiest and most crowded, fully reflecting Patong’s reputation as Phuket’s main entertainment hub.

Patong’s nightlife is among the most famous in Thailand. Its heart is Bangla Road (Soi Bangla), a pedestrian street lined with bars, clubs, live music venues, rooftop lounges, and international restaurants. After sunset, neon lights, music, and street performances transform the area into a lively scene that draws visitors from all over the world.

The district offers a wide variety of shops and dining options. You can enjoy Thai cuisine, fresh seafood, and international dishes — from Italian and Japanese to American and Middle Eastern. Nearby you’ll also find shopping malls such as Jungceylon and Central Patong, seafood markets, street food courts, souvenir shops, and boutiques.
