The Central Embankment in Aktau is one of the city’s key public and tourist spaces, located on the coast of the Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan’s Mangystau Region. It stretches along the Caspian shore opposite Aktau’s 15th micro-district. The embankment is approximately 3 km long, with a pedestrian zone area of about 1.7 hectares. It features comfortable lighting that creates a cozy atmosphere in the evening and at night.
The embankment was officially opened in 2013 in honor of Kazakhstan’s First President’s Day, becoming a landmark piece of city infrastructure. In subsequent years, large-scale renovation and modernization works were carried out, including the installation of children’s playgrounds and sports facilities, benches, and the creation of green zones. Special attention was paid to the safety and convenience of the city’s residents and visitors.
The main architectural feature of the Central Embankment is a large amphitheater with a 70-meter stage, built for the 5th Caspian Summit in 2018. The amphitheater serves as a venue for concerts and official events. Other notable attractions include the Laguna Family Aquapark, a bronze Mermaid sculpture, and the Rocky Path—a unique pedestrian zone with illuminated rock formations and a laser show that creates captivating visual effects in the evenings.
