Freedom Square is the main and largest square of Sukhum, the capital of Abkhazia. It is located in the very heart of the city, bordered by Gulia, Aidgylara, Academician Sakharov, and Ardzinba Streets. The square serves as the political and public center of Sukhum, hosting parades, holiday celebrations, and official ceremonies. It’s also a popular gathering place for both locals and visitors.

The main architectural landmark of the square is the building of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, which was heavily damaged during the storming on September 27, 1993, in the course of the Georgian–Abkhaz war. The building still bears visible traces of destruction and stands as a reminder of those tragic events. Next to the square lies Freedom Park — a green recreational area with palm trees, magnolias, laurel trees, and well-maintained pedestrian alleys.

From the webcam, you can see the center of Freedom Square, Freedom Park on the left, and the façade of the ruined Supreme Council building on the right. The camera also captures the busy traffic along Gulia Street and people walking around the square. In the evening, the area is beautifully illuminated by decorative lights, making the square look especially picturesque.
