Live webcam streams real-time views of Tokyo Station in the capital city of Japan.
Tokyo Station (日本語: 東京駅, English: Tokyo Station) is the main intercity railway terminal in Japan’s capital and one of the country’s most important transportation hubs. It serves multiple Shinkansen lines as well as regional and commuter lines operated by JR (Japan Railway Company). The station is located in the Marunouchi business district of Chiyoda Ward, close to central Tokyo and within walking distance of the Imperial Palace.
Construction of the station began in 1908 as part of Tokyo’s modernization of its transportation network, and it officially opened in 1914. The original structure was designed in a European-style red-brick architectural motif. During World War II, the building was heavily damaged and later rebuilt in a simplified form. From 2007 to 2012, Tokyo Station underwent an extensive restoration that brought back its early 20th-century appearance, including its domed towers and iconic red-brick façade.
Although the station does not have its own dedicated subway platforms, underground passageways connect it to the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line and the major transport hubs of Otemachi, Nijūbashimae, and Kyobashi, providing easy access to the Tokyo subway system. On the Yaesu side, a large bus terminal serves local, regional, and long-distance routes. Tokyo Station is also one of the busiest railway stations in Japan in terms of the number of trains arriving and departing each day.
