Takamatsu is the capital of Kagawa Prefecture, located on the northeast coast of Shikoku — the fourth-largest island of the Japanese archipelago. The city covers an area of 375.1 km² and has a population of about 410,000 people. Takamatsu is one of the major seaports in the Shikoku region. Ferries depart from here to various destinations across Japan, including popular tourist islands such as Naoshima and Shodoshima.

Takamatsu attracts visitors with its historical and natural landmarks. Among the most notable are Ritsurin Garden — one of Japan’s most celebrated traditional landscape gardens — and Mount Goken, home to Yakuriji Temple, a significant stop along the Shikoku Pilgrimage route. The city is also known for its cultural institutions, including the Kagawa Museum and the Shikoku Mura open-air museum, which features traditional architecture and regional crafts.

The webcam shows the modern Sunport Takamatsu district, developed on the site of a former freight depot. Today it is one of the city’s most dynamic areas, featuring hotels, apartments, shops, restaurants, office buildings, ferry terminals, and the Takamatsu Symbol Tower complex. Sunport Takamatsu serves as a major transportation hub and a popular waterfront destination for both residents and visitors.
