Hoang Mai Town, located in Nghe An Province on Vietnam’s northern coast, serves as an important administrative and economic center in the region. The town has a population of around 95,000 and covers a total area of 172.1 square kilometers. Its economy is based on agriculture, industry, and a growing tourism sector. Thanks to its coastal location, Hoang Mai plays a key role in regional development.

Hoang Mai was officially established as a district-level town on April 3, 2013, after being separated from the rural district of Quynh Luu. It has historical roots in the region’s agricultural and coastal communities. In 2025, according to Government Project No. 343/ĐA-CP, the town was reorganized and divided into three districts as of July 1, 2025. Nghe An Province, where Hoang Mai is situated, is also known for its historical significance, including sites associated with the family of President Ho Chi Minh.

Hoang Mai has a tropical monsoon climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The average annual high temperature is about 25°C (77°F), and the average low is around 15°C (60°F). Annual rainfall reaches approximately 1,800 mm (71 inches), with October being the wettest month (364 mm) and February the driest (37 mm). The rainy season typically lasts from May to October, influenced by the town’s location in north-central Vietnam.

Hoang Mai and its surroundings feature several natural and cultural attractions. Popular destinations include Quynh Nghia Beach for seaside recreation, Khe Lau Lake with its scenic views, and Dong Du Village Lakeside Farm Stay, a favorite for ecotourism enthusiasts. Nearby, Pu Mat National Park offers opportunities for trekking and exploring the region’s rich biodiversity.
