Shanyuan Beach is located on the shore of a small picturesque bay of the Philippine Sea on the southeast coast of Taiwan, 12 km northeast of the city center of Taitung. It is covered with fine golden sand and is a great spot for a summer beach vacation. The beach is 1.5 km long and up to 50 meters wide.
There are coral reefs near the northern and southern ends of the beach, making Shanyuan Beach popular for snorkeling and diving. Water sports such as surfing, windsurfing, and sailing are also popular here. Hotels, campgrounds, and restaurants line the beach. The warm subtropical climate, clean seawater, good infrastructure, and proximity to the nearby city of Taitung attract many vacationers.
