Shanyuan Beach is located on the shore of a small picturesque bay of the Philippine Sea of the Pacific Ocean on the southeast coast of Taiwan Island, 12 km northeast of Taidong city center. It is covered with fine golden sand and is a great place for summer beach vacation. The beach is 1.5 km long and up to 50 meters wide.
There are coral reefs near the northern and southern ends of the beach, making Shanyuan Beach popular for snorkeling and diving. Water sports such as surfing, windsurfing and sailing are popular here. There are hotels, campgrounds and restaurants along the beach. The warm subtropical climate, clean seawater, good infrastructure, and proximity to the large city of Taidong attract many vacationers.
