Located between the South China Sea and the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. Hong Kong comprises Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, Lantau Island and the Hong Kong New Territories, a total of about 250 islands. Today, Hong Kong is the leading financial center of Asia and the world, often referred to as the New York of Asia. It has its own stock exchange and one of the largest seaports in the world.

Hong Kong’s climate is subtropical, with dry and wet seasons. The dry season lasts from December to March, when the wind blows from mainland China and the weather is dry and sunny. The temperature during this time ranges from +15 to +20 degrees Celsius. The rainy season lasts from April to November, when the wind blows from the Pacific Ocean, bringing a lot of rain and the temperature rises to +27 degrees Celsius. During the rainy season, Hong Kong is often hit by typhoons and hurricanes.
