Annapurna Base Camp Live Webcam, Nepal
The live webcam provides a real-time view of the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) in Nepal.
Annapurna Base Camp is a high-altitude camp and glacial amphitheater—known as the Annapurna Sanctuary—located in the central part of the Annapurna Range in northern Nepal. Surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks, the camp sits at an elevation of about 4,130 meters (13,550 feet) above sea level. It lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area, the largest protected region in Nepal, established to preserve the local environment and promote sustainable tourism. Trekking in the Annapurna region became popular during the 1970s and 1980s, following the opening of official routes and the development of infrastructure for travelers.
The Annapurna Sanctuary is a natural glacial basin where glaciers and mountain streams converge to form tributaries of the Modi Khola River. From the base camp, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Annapurna I (8,091 m / 26,545 ft), as well as Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain). On clear days, additional Himalayan ranges are visible in the distance.
The most common trekking routes to ABC begin in Pokhara, the main tourist hub of the region. The trail typically passes through villages such as Ghandruk, Chhomrong, Dovan, and Deurali. Depending on the route and pace, the ascent to the base camp usually takes 6–10 days. Along the way, trekkers will find a well-developed network of tea houses and lodges offering accommodation and meals.
These lodges serve traditional Nepali dishes such as dal bhat, soups, noodles, and other simple yet hearty food. Many modern tea houses now provide surprisingly comfortable conditions even at high altitude. The trek to Annapurna Base Camp is considered moderate in difficulty, but it requires good physical fitness and gradual acclimatization. The main risks include altitude sickness, avalanches, and sudden weather changes.
The climate in the Annapurna region is alpine. Most precipitation falls during the monsoon season (June to September). The best time for trekking is spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), when the weather is stable and mountain visibility is at its best. In winter, temperatures can drop significantly, and snowstorms are possible. The Annapurna Base Camp trek remains one of Nepal’s most popular hiking adventures, contributing greatly to local economies and the growth of eco-tourism in the Himalayas.
