Mount Sulaiman-Too lies in the heart of Osh, in southern Kyrgyzstan, and is a unique natural and cultural landmark. It is one of the few mountains in Central Asia included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The mountain has been a sacred pilgrimage site since ancient times and is considered one of the key symbols of Islamic culture in the region. Sulaiman-Too is also known for its archaeological discoveries, including ancient burials and traces of pre-Islamic cults. On its slopes, visitors can see centuries-old petroglyphs carved into the rock.

On the southern slope stands the Sulaiman-Too Mosque, originally built in the 16th century during the Uzbek Khanate. The mosque was erected on the site of an ancient shrine and holds great religious significance. According to legend, the Prophet Solomon (known as Sulaiman in Islam) was buried on this mountain, making it a revered destination for Muslim pilgrims. For centuries, visitors have come here to pray for health and well-being. From the mosque, there is a stunning panoramic view of the city of Osh and Mount Sulaiman-Too itself. Today, the mosque serves not only as a place of worship but also as a historical and cultural monument that reflects Islamic architecture in Central Asia.

Mount Sulaiman-Too has been regarded as a sacred mountain since pre-Islamic times, and today it remains a major religious and tourist attraction, drawing visitors from across Kyrgyzstan and abroad. The mountain consists of five ridges, each with its own name and spiritual meaning for pilgrims: Baara (“Camel”), Shor (“Salty”), Rushan (“High”), Eer (“Saddle-Shaped”), and Kekilik (“Layered”). From the top, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Osh and the surrounding valley. At the summit, there is a viewing platform and the Sulaiman-Too Museum, which tells the story of the mountain and the rich history of the region.
